Hierarchical Generalized Linear Models

The GenStat 9th Edition includes the hierarchical generalized linear model methods of Lee, Nelder and Pawitan. With each copy of the book Generalized Linear Models with Random Effects: Unified Analysis via H-likelihood written by Lee, Nelder and Pawitan a promotional copy of the GenStat 9th Edition is included. This provides you with full access to the methods and data sets used within the book. Information about registering for a promotional license, updates and running the examples in GenStat are detailed below.

Written by pioneering authorities in the field, this reference provides an introduction to various theories and examines likelihood inference and GLMs. The authors show how to extend the class of GLMs while retaining as much simplicity as possible. By maximizing and deriving other quantities from h-likelihood, they also demonstrate how to use a single algorithm for all members of the class, resulting in a faster algorithm as compared to existing alternatives.

Registering for your promotion license key

With each copy of Generalized Linear Models with Random Effects: Unified Analysis via H-likelihood there is a promotional GenStat CD that includes a code giving you access to one years free use of GenStat. To receive your promotion license install GenStat on your PC where you wish to run GenStat. When you start GenStat click on the Register for Key button. You can then register online by supplying your promotional code. Once you have registered you will be sent a license key that will be valid for one year. Note that you can only register for your promotional license key from within the version of GenStat 9th Edition supplied with the book.

Updates and patches

Periodically updates and patches for the promotional version of GenStat 9th Edition will be made available. To receive these updates you must retain your promotional code. Please check back at this page to see if updates are available.

How to run the examples

All the examples from the Generalized Linear Models with Random Effects: Unified Analysis via H-likelihood book are available within GenStat. To access the examples select the Analysis option from the Example Programs section of the Help menu. This will open a dialog providing access to many example programs within GenStat. To view only the examples for the book select the Examples from Lee, Nelder & Pawitan (2006) item from the Filter by Topic list. To view the example code click the Open button, to view the example code and run an example program click on the Open and Run button.
